Yellow Pom

what kind of tree is this?
It’s a smallish (>50 ft tall) tree with orangeish yellow pom-poms. The leaves are almost spade-shaped. It’s growing little greenish balls (which I assume are fruit of some sort)
I can tell you it is NOT:
–Catalpa (fruit on catalpas look like string beans)
–Mulberry (fruits on mulberries look like blackberries)
–Osage orange (Leaves are wrong, and fruit isn’t lumpy)
–Buttonbush (flower is right, but buttonbush has white pom poms.)
Any ideas?
I can provide a photo upon request…just email with “funny tree” as the subject.
Thanks!

No one will be able to email you as your email (and IM) functions aren’t activated. And users who don’t wish to activate their email or IM wouldn’t be able to receive your photos.
Why don’t you post your photos here? You first have to upload them to a photo-sharing website such as FlickR, Photobucket, or something similar. Copy the direct link to the photo you want, then come back to your question and go to the Edit function on the toolbar and choose “Add Details”. Then paste the link(s) to your photos.
Just based on your description, it sounds as though your tree is something in the Mimosoideae subfamily: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimosoideae You might want to look through the links on thhis link as well.
