Two question need help.

A. A department store has 190 employees and must hire an additional 30% for Christmas season. What is the total nimber of employees needed for the Holiday season?

B. The length of Soldier’s Field (rectangular shape) is triple its width. If the wth i x+2, and the perimeter is 192 yds, what is the are of the field?

a) 190 x 1.30 = 247 employees

b) width (w) = x + 2

length (l) = 3(x + 2)

length (l) = 3x + 6

perimeter = 2(w + l)

perimeter = 2(x + 2 + 3x + 6)

perimeter = 2(4x +

perimeter = 8x + 16

Since perimeter also equals 192, then

8x + 16 = 192

8x = 192 – 16

8x = 176

x = 176/8

x = 22

Since x = 22, then the width of the field, x + 2 is

22 +2 = 24 yds

And the length of the field, 3(x + 2) is

3(22 + 2)

3 X 24 = 72 yds

Therefore the area of the field is:

Area = length X width

Area = 72 X 24

Area = 1728 sq yds
