Yard Cows

Australian Shepherd Info
Perchance most known as the best herding dogs in the canine world, Australian Shepherds are also highly levelheaded and without problems trained. Aussies make very good watch dogs because of their natural herder traits, and this also includes a well-developed protective instinct. They don’t make excessive noise, but will bark warnings if they suspect danger. They are normally loyal, playful, and loving dogs that love to cuddle and make wonderful companions.
The Aussie can be a terrific pet for the family, if they have ample time to spend with the dog. Just like many well-informed dogs, Aussies can become bored easily, mainly if they’re left alone for extensive periods of time. They will chew up practically anything if they get restless, and are infamous hole diggers and escape artists. An Aussie that receives enough of exercise will have very few of these problems. They really need plenty of vigorous exercise. Lots of alternative methods can be used to ensure that your dog gets enough exercise. Running unrestricted in a field such as a dog park is ideal. You can also give your Aussie some real work to do, such as carrying a pack on a walk. You can also play games of catch with a ball or a Frisbee, and/or take them for long runs. These dogs are keen on being part of the family on hunting and fishing trips. Or they’d simply love to be with you while you did a little yard work at home.
If you are interested in raising a dog that needs such requirements, I would suggest that you acquire a puppy. In this way, your Aussie puppy can be decently trained and will also become comfortable with the people it will be living with. Something important is to have the dogs’ own area ready, such as a kennel or crate, when you bring him home. A good idea is to include toys and a blanket to occupy his time if he might be waking up during the night. You will be surprised to see that the Aussie stays off the furniture and in his own space.
You must start training your Aussie without delay to prevent him from taking the dominant role in the family.
Australian Shepherds typically have an extreme amount of energy and drive. These dogs are capable to excel in a variety of disciplines because they like to please their owner. They are used as search-and-rescue dogs, guide dogs for the blind, hearing dogs for the deaf, therapy dogs, drug detectors, and show dogs. These dogs are extremely obedient, agile and loves herding cattle and sheep on farms. If you want to see a happy dog then give him a job to do. If you have ample time and adequate space for the dog, the Australian Shepherd can make a fabulous family companion too.
