Vessel Sinks Offer Distinctive Style in A Bath
Vessel sinks offer some fresh design choices for renewing a bath during a remodel.
Many different materials are used in the design of vessel sinks. Porcelain sinks are what we are most accustomed to, and wonderful for their ease of care. If porcelain is preferred, there are a number of styles and shapes on the market.
A vessel sink brings a sea of other possible choices for the fixture’s composition. Stone and wood which have had little intervention in their makeup and origins blend easily into sophisticated masculine themes. Copper, stainless, or bronze are other likely choices. Some designs involves blending metals or embossing with a second metal. Wood is another natural material used as in the de la frontera mesquite vessel sink, which has a very unique style.
Marble and glass lend themselves to more feminine or delicate design. Marble pattern is determined by natural forces, however, that still leaves some color decisions.
Glass vessel sinks bring almost endless possibilities in design, color and shape. The more common are geometric shapes with perhaps layered or embossed detailing, but artistic shapes are also available, and some defy description. The arty pieces are generally unique, not created in mass, and a budget killer for most folks.
There are however, more than enough creative patterns, shapes and styles, to fit more modest budgets.
Clear glass in a variety of colors, or glass with a painted design either an all-over pattern or something specific. DeNova Caribella Water Droplets offers an all over pattern that would work well in a family bath. The DreamLine DLG005 vessel sink is another all-over pattern, but with a more sophisticated feel.
Vessel sinks lend themself better in household with adolescent to adult members. Since the vessel is affixed to the top of the counter it is higher than a standard sink. When children have reached an age that affords more height, this difficulty will be eliminated.
Something else to think about is the faucet. A small selection of vessels will offer installation of the faucet into the sink. Either a wall installation, or setting the faucet into the countertop are most common.
Most folks bypass wall installation since they require opening the wall, and more repair and clean-up.
More often than not, setting the faucet directly to the countertop is appropriate, using special filler faucets with longer spouts on a higher necks that will suit the vessel’s additional height.
Selecting your own preference in finish and styling of your vessel filler will further complete the distinctive look of your vessel sink making it a very updated and unique addition to your bathroom renovation.
