My retainer wire just broke, can somebody tell me how to fix it?

the right most edge of the wire on the upper retainer broke bout 5 minutes ago. i’m in college right now and my ortho is pretty far away right now. should i use tape or gum as a temporary fix? would seeing any dentist get it fixed? thanks in advanced.
should i still wear it?

Try not to fix it yourself. You might actually form it wrong and it can irritate your gums or teeth and possibly make your teeth align improperly. If anything, try to bring it to an ortho in your area that accepts your insurance. A few days without your retainer won’t hurt, but make sure you get it fixed ASAP.
