Wired Black
4 black wires and two white connected to an outlet. Any ideas of a practical use for this wire configuration?
I rewired an outlet and added a 3 prong to replace the previous two prong that existed prior. Any reason why someone whould have 4 black and 2 white wires? two black wires look much older than the other pair of black wires. What could someone accomplish with 4 black and 2 white in any configuration connected.
-there is an outlet on the opposite side of the wall in a closet and it dosen’t work. Could these outlets be wired to one onother like a series circuit?

Receptacles are often used as splicing devices.
“4 black wires” is definitely bad practice, … but it’s done.
A very ham handed amateur has been messing with that wiring.
You don’t say if there were are any splices in the back of the box,
so it’s hard to guess at what is going on there.
There might be a tap to a light switch.
All outlet circuits are, (or should be), parallel circuits.
