wedding decor?

the room i got for my reception is kinda dowdy and will need much decor i was wondering if it would be ok to use uplighting or a kinda patterned light in the roof as that is really the problem area large centerpiece with tiny cadles at the base. what do u think? if u have pics please share. thanks much
