The Man Who Wrote Children’s Books That Captured Our Hearts
During your childhood, I’m sure that you love to read books, or to be read a book by your parents. Maybe you love to read comics, or maybe a children’s book before bed. In summary, whatever reasons we might have, we all love books and their colorful stories. And amongst many books, my favorite literature are works of Theodore Seuss Geisel, or commonly known as Dr. Seuss.
Theodore Geisel was an American writer. He was also a cartoonist. His mother gave birth to him in Springfield, Massachusetts. He published over 60 children’s books which he written under the pen names Theo. LeSieg, Rosetta Stone, and his famous pen name Dr, Seuss. ”Green Eggs And Ham, “The Cat In The Hat, and “How The Grinch Stole Christmas was amongst his most celebrated books.
Geisel studied at Springfield’s Central High School for his secondary level studies and Dartmouth College for his degree. He joined “Dartmouth Jack-O-Lantern”, which is a humor magazine, during his college days. He eventually became the Editor-in-chief of the said magazine.
Some of his stories have been adapted on TV specials, feature films, and a Broadway musical, which is a testament on how popular his works are. Suffering throat cancer and many other complications, Geisel died on September 24, 1991 on San Diego, California.
Even in todays world, Dr. Seuss works has remained famous. His works “The Cat In The Hat”, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas”, and “Green Eggs and Ham” have become really famous children’s books. These books are so popular that you will often see things featuring them. During Halloweens, I often see children dressed as the Grinch or wearing Cat In The Hat Costumes. I really enjoy seeing kids wearing cute Cat in the Hat Costumes or other Dr. Seuss characters during costume parties or Halloweens. Also, there are some home decors that bear the designs of Theodore’s characters.
A legend, that is what Theodore Geisel has become. His works has become part of our history. We would be boring ourselves to death without his works, I think. His works bring joy and laughter to little children and sometimes adults too. Young and old, almost all kinds of people appreciate his works. No doubt about it, Dr. Seuss stories really captured our young hearts.
