Is it possible to disinfect makeup? How?

I asked a question about someone using my makeup (I didn’t give permission) and I want to be able to use it again only if it’s safe. She doesn’t have an eye infection that I know of.

Well I was raised with a mother who is a germ-o-phobe and she passed it on to me so here are some tips:

Mascara- Take out the wand and run it under water until there is NO (absolutely NO) mascara on it.and then dip the wand in a little alcohol (don’t forget to rinse it once more after that). Now if you have a tiny dropper of some sort put it like 1-2 drops of alcohol into the tube of mascara. That will get all the germs out. Be sure to wait a while before you put it on your eyes (wait like 24 hours)

Eyeliner: I find that if you use a hand antibacterial and moisten a tissue with the and wipe the ends of eyeliner it will clean it off.

Eyeshadow: I don’t know who to disinfect the eyeshadow itself, however make sure that the BRUSHES are thoroughly clean. Along with using cleaner, also use some kind of surfactant (shampoo, alcohol, hand sanitizer, or regular soap) and wash the brush like you would your hair. Let it air dry overnight.

Lipstick: I got this little trick from a magazine. If you dip your lipstick in alcohol, it will remove the entire first layer and will leave you with very clean lipstick.

Lipgloss: If you have the kind with that stick then do the same thing as you would with mascara. If its the tube that goes straight on your lips just use the tissue with hand sanitizer and wipe it off.

Liquid Foundation: I haven’t found a way to clean that yet, however just open the lid and then use a lot of hand sanitizer on your fingers (or whatever you use to apply it) and that helps.

Powder Foundation: This tend to be a little sturdier than eyeshadows so it’s easier to clean. Get a spray bottle and put either alcohol or hand sanitizer in it. Gently mist it over the powder. Don’t forget to clean your brushes!

Other powders: Same above.
