Terrier Plaque
When I give my 3.5 month old Bull terrier a dental bone, the regular size, she gulps it down in minutes!?
The bones are for her to take her time and chew so that her teeth can rid plaque and tartar. She is about 30lbs so she gets the regular size bone. Within minutes, the bone is gone.
We also have a cocker spaniel who is 5 months at 13lbs. She will only chew a half of a bone and it takes her a hour-2 hours to finish it off. She is smaller but older than the bully.
Is there a larger tougher dental bone that we could get for the bully. We want her to take her time and chew, grind and nibble at the bone to get rid of the plaque and tartar. We are planning to start brushing their teeth soon in addition to giving them the bones daily.
At that age you should get the dog a large chew so it does not swallow it.and or chew it up so fast and swallow it.
What I use is a large raw hide bone that I know they cannot swallow and let them chew on it. It will be too big to ingest so I would suggest you do that if you want the teeth to be clean.
Also a large chew bone that is hard to destroy, but has flavor to keep her busy.will work too.
But you will have to look around and no small ones for her size as you see what she did with this one.
