what kind of leather do I have to use to make a mask for a cosplay?

I know that its very possible to make masks out of leather, so my question is when I go on a website like Tandy Leather Company, which is the one that I have to purchase? They seem to have lots of different kinds for different purchases, and because of the quantity that needs to be bought at one time, I really dont want to order the wrong one.

Depends on what kind of mask you’re making.

If you want a mask to be stiff and hold it’s shape, use vegetable tanned leather, also known as tooling leather:

If you want a softer mask, use chrome tanned, or garment leather:
