One of the common notions that we get when we talk about black neckties is that they often suggest mourning, grief and strife and that they are also worn primarily on funerals and wakes. However, no matter what black means to the society, it should not be limited to somber events. It will make you lose your chance at having one of the most popular styles in men’s fashion. In the recent years, black silk ties have already gained status and authority in men’s staple fashion.  A black tie can be viewed as fashionable and stylish rather than seeing it as a ‘final viewing’ common in situations where you say goodbye.

Black is a color that is more than what you can call somber, dull and mournful. Yes, colors do give life and the absence of color may be what you can consider exactly the opposite of life. However, you can still be stylish even when you garb a black silk tie just avoid wearing a solid black necktie over a plain white shirt and all-black suit because it would indeed make you look like you are the funeral director or about to attend the final moments of someone you love. Gone are the days when you would get labeled or be stereotyped as someone mourning when you dress up in black ties because the movie depicts that wearing all black is not something that demonstrates mourning rather allow you to have that mysterious and subtle strength look. However, it never hurts if you mix up some styles such as adding a little color into your attire. Night black suits can be replaced with something light like dark or light gray and a tanned suit could also work really well. Light yellow or light blue undershirts would look good as an alternative to a plain white shirt. You can also get some fine prints on your shirt if you want since you are already wearing solid black.

Your priority is to make diversity on the colors that you are wearing. Not all men would look dark and mysterious if they go for monochromatic image. If your personality does not demonstrate such kind of aura then it will definitely not work for you. Black ties are one of the most prestigious, sophisticated and formal looking neckties in the industry and most men may have a couple of these included in their collection. You just have to understand that you need to adhere to what is basic so that the aesthetic purpose a necktie could still be evident. If you want to add a fresher and happier color to the black color then you would be able to do so by adding visually diverse colors.

Just like any other color, you will find that blacks also have different shades. It can be this black but not that black even though common notion would just call them all black. You need to realize that one black can be different from one another and this variety in the shade can keep the balance in what you call terminally dead and dull outfit. You should be able to find one that represents your personality but not utterly gloomy.
