Soft Baby

when your cervix is soft and baby is fully engaged does that help dialate your cervix more?

just curious im 35wks and at my appointment last wk i was told baby is fully engaged and my cervix was soft. so i was wondering should i worry about dialating since i have had all my other children before 38wks?

That means that it is around the corner. When I had my daughter and I was already dilated…actually that was caused by contractions and her sending hormones through my system to dilate me. Now your cervix being soft really doesn’t do anything it just means that your body is getting ready. It is when your cervix effaces THAT is when you know that it will help your dilation during labor to be a little faster. I would try taking Primerose Oil. I would talk to your dr first but I took that. I was 2 cm dilated and -2 station and 25% effaced when I was 35 weeks. She didn’t want to wait. I ended up having my daughter at 36 weeks 3 days. She popped my water which caused me to have a high leak.
