Fun Family Hobby Idea: A Child’s First Jewelry Box

Maybe you have a little girl or niece who is just pleading you for a jewelry box of her own.   However, before you succumb to her wishes, take into consideration an alternative.  Why not help her create a jewelry box by herself?   By doing this the box is going to be nearly as special and exceptional as she is.

Collect the Components

Don’t get worried; building a child’s very first jewelry box is a pretty basic undertaking which doesn’t need very many items.   In fact, pretty much everything you will need, aside from a child’s ingenuity, is available at a local art shop.  The products needed for this activity are a little wooden box, a bit of glue or rubber cement, a couple of scissors, a piece of material roughly a square foot in dimensions, color markers, globules, or everything else you and your little artisan think worthy of this unique jewelry box.

Step One:  Preparing The Jewelry Box

To start with in making a jewelry box should be to make the box risk-free by making sure the wood box is splinter-free around the ends and corners.  The majority of art stores offer excellent wooden boxes which are splinter-free, but it wouldn’t hurt if you’re thorough and sand down the edges using a bit of emery paper.  Always remember to rub one way.  Teach the little artist about the correct way to accurately rub the sides of the wooden box.

Step Two: Jewelry Box Lining

Among the many essential supplies necessary to go working on your little girl’s jewelry box would be the piece of material a square foot in size. Make use of this as a lining of your jewelry box.
