Is it safe to use polymer clay (Sculpey, Kato, Fimo) around light-bulbs?

Like lamp shades & night lights, etc.?

You’re talking about clay that’s already been baked, yes? Putting unbaked clay near lightbulbs isn’t a good idea, for the reasons already mentioned.

I did a little bit of searching but couldn’t find much. There was a mention of a polymer clay lampshade made on the Carol Duvall show, but when I clicked on it the information was gone. But at least it says to me that someone did it, once!

You might want to try asking on the Craftster polymer clay forum (look under “Community” and navigate down from there). There is a member there who runs the Glassattic.com website (I tried looking there but it’s hard to navigate) and knows *a lot* about polymer clay. If she sees your question she’ll probably be able to answer it.
