Worried about heavy satin wedding gown and hot and humid wedding day…?

My wedding is this weekend and the forecast says it will be in the upper 80′s and very humid. I’m worried because the ceremony is outside and my dress is satin and weighs about 18 lbs and I am fit, but I still get sweaty really easily. Any ideas on how to stay cool or to avoid sweat dripping down my back in front of all my guests??

Stay in the shade or in the AC as long as possible. Use a spray-on antiperspirant (you can find them at any drugstore, like CVS or Walgreen’s) all over. Keep a few hankies on hand to dab yourself off before and after the ceremony. On your face, a makeup primer will help keep your foundation from melting off (I like Smashbox Photo Finish primer, they make an oil-free kind and you can get a little tube at Sephora), and you can get blotting papers to dab off shine before and after the ceremony.

This might sound nutso, but if your dress has a really full skirt, you could tape a gel cooling pack (that are made to go in coolers) to your thighs – no one would see, and they would help keep your core temperature down a little bit. But I understand that’s a desperate measure!

If sweating/humidity typically makes you break out (some people get hives in that kind of weather), take some Benadryl that morning.
