Rubber Sofa

Outdoor Furniture And The Environment
If you’re worried about your carbon footprint and what impact the things you buy have on the Earth, you have options when it comes to environmentally friendly outdoor furniture. There are many new companies who are getting on an eco-bandwagon, and a few of the more seasoned ones are joining in as well.
Teak has a long history for being expensive and popular for making outdoor furniture. It weathers beautifully, and lasts for years. Sadly, many of the teak forests in Southeast Asia have been all but depleted. There are companies who are doing something about it. Only teak from sustainable forests is used by one outdoor furniture manufacturing company in Costa Rica. They give a portion of their profits back toward reforestation. Now days, owning a new teak dining set or sofa isn’t going to wreck the eco-system but the prices have go up in order to do it. Several outdoor furniture manufacturers have joined an organization called 1% For The Planet. Corporations banded together to pledge a 1% portion of their sales to environmental conservation. You’ll notice the affiliation logo while shopping on many of their sites.
Other designers and manufacturers are working with recycled plastic to make great tables, chairs and other outdoor pieces. These new designs are nothing like the plastic ones found at all the big discount stores. They are highly stylized and comfortable additions to the market. Recycled plastic managed to produce the ever popular polar fleece, and now it will be ultra popular outdoor furniture! It also withstands winter weather, which means it does have to be taken indoors for storage. The tables and chairs are all low maintenance and continue to look great season after season. Also look for recycled wrought iron which is a great look. You’ll find hammocks made of recycled soda bottles and contemporary chairs made up of old staves from wine barrels. It’s a hammock just as comfortable as the old rope ones too.
Stay on the lookout for recycled rubber products, and the use of polywood. More durable and prettier than plywood, polywood is actually much like it in composition. The efforts by manufacturers to work harder for a better environment are becoming bigger and better. You’ll be surprised at the option you have for environmentally friendly outdoor furnishings. There is nothing about it that is hand hewn looking or rustic at all!
