Can sola wood be painted?

I have a craft project in mind using sola wood crapes. I’ve seen sola rosettes dyed, but what I want to work with comes in its natural shade. How is sola painted? What can be used to paint sola? Thanks.

I believe you can paint sola wood with oil-based paints. Acrylic spray paints would be more ideal.
