Attaching braided nylon ribbon to thin fabric?

I’m making my daughter’s Snow White costume – I have braided nylon ribbon to attach to the bodice and waist – how do I do that? Sew it on or hot glue? Also fabric netting to go over satin skirt – how to attach?

For the braided ribbon, I would hand sew them on. You’ll get better results and it will stay on better. If you don’t want to hand sew, then you can always use fabric glue (don’t use hot glue). The fabric glue is called Fabric Tack.

For the netting, pin it to the skirt and secure with a few hand stitches. Then when you attach the skirt to the bodice, it will all be sewn together. If you have the skirt and bodice already sewn together, then put sew binding on top of the netting and then attach to the skirt. You need the binding or else the stitches will just fall through the netting and not hold. I would open the binding and put the netting inside so it is enclosed in it and then sew it on the machine. This will be more secure for attaching.
