what does the pink ribbon in Faith’s hair mean? from the story of Goodman Brown?

It’s been years since I read it, but I did a quick search. I hadn’t considered the budding sexuality of a new Puritan wife before, but that is an interesting angle (since they dressed very conservatively). The common answer is that it is symbolic of his faith being there when he met the devil.
