Red laser pointer- An optimal and helpful item

The red laser pointer is mostly known as a toy for bored teenagers that illuminate objects or surroundings of people and animals. They are often purchased at a market for a discount price or now with the popularity of the internet and auction sites through a trader. The reason why they are not readily available in shops is because their proper use is not often upheld. The red laser pointer is designed to be used as a pointer to point out objects by illuminating them.

Shining in the eyes of animals and people can cause damage if the red laser pointer is powerful enough. While most pointers do not have an output power in milli Watts high enough it is not visible on the encasing of the red laser pointer red laser. For this reason some countries have decided to ban the red laser pointer for consumer usage and requires a license to be used.

The red laser pointer differs from it’s counterparts yellow, green, blue and violet. It is the first, most common and basically nothing more than a a batter y power laser diode. The first red laser pointer was released in the early 80′s and were sold for hundreds of dollars. Back then the pointer was clunky and big, much different from the slim and smallpointers that are readily available nowadays for a very low price. The other colored pointers have only become available in the last couple of years. The red laser pointer has a general wave length of 633 nm. The more deep red laser pointers have a wave length of around 670 nm and the red-orange ones are under 633 nm. The lower the wave length gets the more the laser changes color. The blue laser has a wave length between 405-433nm.

Other than used as pointer devices in business or educational presentations the red laser pointer is also well known as a pointer for gun weapons. Often the red dot produced by the red laser pointer reminds people of the red laser that a sniper uses to point it’s target with the sniper rifle. The popularity of the laser even created a new phenomenon called “laser-gaming” where people would use laser guns and laser suits to run around in a dark foggy maze to shoot with the pointer devices at each other. The sensitivity of the suit would detect a laser coming in which would count as a hit. Whoever hits the most and gets hit the least wins.
