What are some bands similar to Rare Earth?

I’m looking for some new (to me) music to listen to. Current faves include The Meters, James Brown, Cake (for something a bit newer), and Rare Earth. I am trying to find some more late 60s early 70s stuff with a bit of a harder edge..

Oh man… Good God man, you’re talkin’ that fuzzed-out stoner sound of 70′s rock!! Well, Black Sabbath of course (check out the albums that aren’t as popular like Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage) Deep Purple, Blue Cheer (is like the first grunge band), Cream, Mountain, Wishbone Ash, OLD Aerosmith is real good, Alice Cooper had some killer stuff in the 70′s, ZZ Top, Rush, Zeppelin, let’s see Rare Earth is like R&B funk stuff so check out WAR, Sly & the family stone, Uriah Heep, The Chambers Brothers, Parliament Funkadelic, and GRAND FUNK!! (You’ll love them dude!) Free, Supertramp, Foghat, UFO, Rainbow, Jethro Tull, the list is endless. 70′s Rock kicks ass! Fuzzed out guitars, pounding drums, hammond organs, groovy bass lines and singers that could SING!! There’s almost nothing better, except for 60′s rock, haha. So there ya go, come back to me when you’ve checked out all those bands my brotha! Oh, almost forgot THIN LIZZY!!
