I have a model I want to mold and then recast polymer clay into it. Which would be the best molding material?

So the mold will be a “push” or “press” mold. What molding material can stand up to being pressed into without distortion?

There are various materials that can be used to cast polymer clay in…. some are stiff, and some are flexible but may still be stiff enough to push the clay into (or which could be used with a “mother mold” behind them for more rigidity).

Which one you might want to use could depend on how large your item is, whether there are undercuts, cost, availability, etc.

Both regular and flexible polymer clays can be used to make molds, and various kinds of polymer clay can be cast in various types of molds (purchased or home-made).
