Purpose Glue

What glue for a composite Longbow?

I’m just dabbling in composite longbow making, and the last one I made came apart. This is because I used this Bostick brand all-purpose glue at first, then used PVA wood glue. What glue do I need to use so the damn thing stays together?
(The bow is made of Tasmanian Oak, also known as Mountain Ash, just in case the wood makes a difference)
Also, does the wood have to be roughened up -like with a rasp- before being glued?
