Can you use automotive polyurethane to make a mold casting?

I need to make some strong, light parts. I have a mold and was wondering if I could use the cheap automotive clear coat polyurethane to cast thick parts (about 1/4″). Will it bubble out or remain solid? Any other good, cheap options?
