SAY ‘I DO’ TO CREATIVE WEDDING FLOWERS

Your choice of wedding flowers speaks volumes about your personality.  A riot of colour says ‘exuberant and confident’ while pale and traditional speak of someone more reserved.  Today, many fresh and modern trends are emerging in bridal flowers which embody the individual personalities of the newlyweds.

Here are a few of the colourful trends that have been seen at stylish weddings across the country.

No-one seems to be afraid of colour – and lots of it.  Traditional pastels are making away for vivid bold tones such as reds and oranges of gerbera daisies, bright chrysanthemums and roses in vibrant colour.  We’re seeing more and more interesting colour combinations such as pink and yellow, orange and purple, purple and red, lime green and bright yellow and red and orange.

Arrangements comprising one type of flower (monobotanic) or one colour (monochromatic) can also look fabulous.  For a fresh and warm summer wedding, brides have been using bright cerise pinks combined with vivid lime green foliage and flowers.  For a winter wedding that’s hot – trendy brides have been choosing bright reds instead of chocolate and earthy colours, with some going for blues and purples to give their nuptials a lift.

And according to a Perth online florist, unusual shapes and designs are also gaining popularity.  Of course, the traditional choice of cascading green ivy teamed up with creamy roses will never lose its popularity, but many brides of today are pushing the envelope with bold and edgy designs, architectural shapes and asymmetrical arrangements.   Unstructured, loose arrangements are also very popular.

Another point of discussion is the interesting variety of containers that modern brides are using for their wedding flowers.  Traditional containers are making way for unusual and interesting vases such as gilded urns, silver tumblers and goblets, mosaic vase, asymmetrical vases, conical, square and rectangular vases, baskets, shallow containers, mirrored containers and urns.  Rows of identical containers are also being used to create symmetry and drama.  Placing vases of various heights and sizes can also add interest.  A word of warning though – make sure your gorgeous arrangements aren’t conversation stoppers.  However gorgeous, if they are too big or too high, guests won’t be able to navigate around them and they’ll end up being an unfavourable talking point which is NOT the intention!

Lighting and accessories are also becoming more popular.  For romance, nothing beats the flattering muted glow of candles.  Candles can be floated in vases, or strung from branchy centerpieces.  Branches can also be spraypainted silver or gold for a sophisticated look.  Wiring small votive candles into the floral arrangements will create a magical, whimsical atmosphere.  Another trend is to cluster together pillar candles which are of varying height, and then surrounding those with flowers to create a glowing centerpiece.  Bold brides are also accessorizing with other items such as ribbon, feathers, mirrors, lace, faux crystals, gems and bling and even fruit and vegetables to create their own individual style.

Modern brides are putting their hearts on the table with fabulous expressions of creativity in their wedding flowers.  As the old saying goes – variety is the spice of life – and wedding flowers are certainly adding spice to the nuptials as well
