selling a saddle on ebay?
alright, so i have a 6-10 year old wintec 500 all purpose saddle.
i am thinking about selling it because it doesn’t suit my discipline.
i’m going to put it up on ebay within the next week and i’m wondering how much i could possibly get for it.
facts:
synthetic
medium tree (fits most horses)
17″ seat
considered ‘broken in’ for a synthetic saddle
comes with:
used square saddle pad (royal blue with evergreen piping)
wintec synthetic stirrup leathers
4 1/2″ peacock stirrups
stirrup pads, rubber bands, and leather keepers.

Given the market and the saddle’s age, I’m thinking you’ll be lucky to get $175-200 for it, even with the package deal.
New Wintec 500s with the changeable gullet and CAIR systems can be bought new for $700 from most catalogs, or new on ebay for $500-600, and synthetic saddles depreciate quicker than leather ones – about 20% per year.
The up side is that the saddle seems to be in very good condition overall, so it should sell the first time you put it up for auction, but even so, you might want to use the “buy it now” option for say $200 and then have a “make an offer” option rather than bid so that you can control the price a little better.
