Peacock Body

I understand that it’s due to testosterone… However, the question I have is why do males have facial hair?

Is there an evolutionary reason or is it just that we get the short end of the stick? Or is it that Body hair is like the plumage of a peacock meant to attract the opposite sex?

I think that is is just like the mane of a lion. Young (teenage) lions have a short mane, as they get older it gets bigger. That way females can tell who the older, and stronger male is.
These days men shave their beards, so we have to find other ways to tell the men from the boys.
