Organza Shimmering

What fabric is better to decorate a ceiling at a reception hall?

My Fiance and I want to decorate our reception hall with drapes hanging like a canopy on the ceiling but i’m just wondering what kind of fabric would best work with this i have heard of tulle shimmer tulle and organza… if those are any good… or if you know of any others i just want it to look great but not be to heavy or bulky for the ceiling i want it to look right. please can anyone help here??

Before you go out and purchase material please check with your venu first. In many places to have the ceiling draped in material as you describe is against the fire code and not allowed. Should there be a spark or flame it will guickly engulf the room because the fire will catch and set the ceiling on fire that will drop down on your fleeing guests. The expense of the material and the time and possible expense of hanging and then later removing that material is not worth the slight effect it might have to the ambiance of the place. People might notice for a moment or two and then forget all about it. It is not really worth the money or the effort but if it is legal in your area then go ahead and do what you want, just be extra careful with any open flame.
