Question about baby shower favors?

My two best girlfriends are throwing me a baby shower this coming Sunday. They’re doing it at a local restaurant and I know it’s probably going to wind up costing them a decent amount of money, so I told them I would take care of the favors for the guests. However, we don’t have a ton of money either, so what I’m thinking of doing are little organza bags filled with candy (Mn’M's or jelly beans) and tied with a ribbon. I know it’s not terribly imaginative, either, but I figure at least it’s something and that it’s the thought that counts. My fiance, however, thinks the idea is cheesy and that I shouldn’t be spending any money on this anyway; he thinks I should just not bother with favors at all. What do you think? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I dont think that you doing the favors is cheesy at all! You are just trying to be nice and help out, and no one else needs to know that you made them besides the ladies throwing it. It is very nice of you actually! I went to a shower last year where the favors were in white organza bags (ebay has them for really cheap) and filled with pastel colored m&m’s (from easter time) and I believe a cute little saying or note was attated to the bags. I thought they were simple, yet elegant and classy. Not cheesy or something “cutesy” that they guests wouldn’t really reuse. I say go for it hun.
