Do the stripes on curtains have to go vertical?

I boughtfabric to sew curtains for my living room..and what I got was the last of it.. so now, I have multi colored striped fabric with the stripes going horizontal. the total width isn’t enough to just flip it.. so what are the rules on stripes and curtains; and how can I still use this fabric?

Well if you’re sewing anyways, why not accent the ends with a solid color that combines well?

Curtain stripes should be vertical to give the illusion of a “tall room”. Otherwise, it will look “stumpy” and “oppressive”, which is what mini-blinds do to offices.
