Multi Spot

Multi Spot
Can someone explain my camera’s options to me in terms other than jargon?

You can change the EV from -0.7 to 1.0
The focus can be Multi AF, Center AF, Spot AF
Metering mode has Multi and Spot
ISO is from 100 to 400

Could you please explain what these mean and the best settings to avoid blurry pictures? Because my photos have a tendency to come out blurred and even a little blur really aggravates me.

I’m not sure what EV is, but I know the rest.

Focus is what makes your image sharp or out of focus. Multi AF means it will AutoFocus on the image using different areas of focus. Center AF means it will AutoFocus on the subject only if it is in the middle of the frame. Spot AF means that you get to pick the spot that should be AutoFocused.

Metering is what tells the camera if there is not enough light or too much light. Basically Multi and Spot work the same here. Multi Metering means the camera will take a light reading from multiple areas of the frame to give you a general reading. Spot means you pick the area that you want to meter the light from.

ISO is what film cameras use to tell the photographer how fast their film is. Not all film emulsion is the same. Some film can take the light and turn it into an image really fast while others take a longer time. Each has it’s advantages. Fast film usually has more grain, but works well at night. Slow film has less grain, and is great for well lit pics that need to look sharp.

ISO 100 is slow film meaning there should be less grain in your image, but doesn’t work well in low light. ISO 400 is faster, but not fast film. 800 is usually fast, while 400 is average. You’ll want to stay around 400 for a video camera.

EV in video terms is electronic viewfinder. I wonder if those numbers represent the ability to focus the viewfinder.
