how would i go about making a queen of hearts costume without sewing too much?

my friend wants to be the queen of hearts for halloween, and im gonna be the mad hatter. i ordered my costume, but we’re making hers. we want something not like a queen of hearts from a deck of cards but a cute costume with a mini dress type thing. how could we go about making this without buying a pattern and sewing it etc.

see if you can find a suitable dress at a retail or thrift store, then make accessories. Cardboard and paint would make a crown, the cardboard core of a roll of paper towels would be a start for a scepter.
