Machine Rings

how can i get my land line phone to stop going to my fax machine after 2 rings?

after my phone rings twice it goes to my fax machine and i can’t stop it. there should be something in the fax machine menu to stop it but I can’t figure out what it is or how to stop it. Thanks for any help

On the fax machine:
1. Scroll to the Fax menu
2. Press the Enter key to access the fax settings menu
3. Scroll to Answer on Rings (or Auto-Answer or # of Rings or some such similar command, depending on the make and model of fax machine)
4. Select 4 rings, or 6 rings (if available), or you can turn off the auto-answer function on some types of fax machines, depending on what you want.

The other option is to simply unplug the phone line from your fax machine until you want to send or receive a fax.
