Why is my parakeet’s beak white? He’s been chewing on his wood swing a LOT. Is something wrong with him?

Almost halfway up his beak, it is sort of a white color. I don’t know if it’s just small cracks I’m seeing in his beak or if something is wrong. It just doesn’t look like it used to. He has been chewing on his wooden swing for loong periods of time. Well, I see him messing with it everyday. Could this be why his beak looks discolored? Otherwise he is behaving normally.

A bird’s beak is very similar to our fingernail, and they continue to grow and change as the bird matures. It isn’t unusual to see minor changes in color or tiny chips from time to time. As long as the damage is minor, nature will take care of it. There have been cases where a bird, even one as small as a Budgie, has broken their beak seriously. This requires immediate attention from an avian vet. If the beak is too far gone, the bird will not survive. But I think in your case, there is nothing to be concerned about, just a natural color shift. If you want to take a picture of it as close as possible and e-mail it to me, I can verify that for you.
