What is this long skinny black/gray fish with a white stripe running the length of it’s body?

I was swimming in my canal in The Florida Keys and there was this black and white ribbon looking fish swimming all close to me and TOUCHING me… I got out and saw it was a small (7″-ish) black or dark gray fish with a long white stripe running the length of it’s body need the top on both sides. It almost looks like a baby shark with no dorsel fin… Is it a baby shark? Eel type fish? What the heck… I’ve never seen it before. There are mutton snapper all over the canal, but they keep their distance. I don’t like this guy…

It sounds a little bit like a barred knife jaw, to me.
