Lilac Gingham

Lilac Gingham
How can I fade that color on fabric?

I have some wicker basket liners that are a lavender gingham and I need the color to be closer to lilac. I was thinking I might be able to wash the liners with something to make them fade a little. The colors are close, but the lavender is brighter…. any ideas?
how much bleach? Should I use what I would normally for a load of whites or sheets, or use a smaller amount.

I would be really careful with bleach. I would test swatches of fabric with different dilutions of bleach till it fades as much as you want. It still wouldn’t be that accurate because it also depends on the amount of fabric (need more bleach to fade more fabric). That’s why no could give you an accurate estimate of how much bleach (we don’t know how much fabric you have, how light you want it, how much water you want to use). There is discharge dye, which will take out dye you can use that, look at dharmatrading.com

I wouldn’t use the RIT version of discharge dye because it is geared towards removing RIT dye, which is a very harsh dye, made by mixing different kinds of dyes.
