Handmade Nylon

Good idea for a handmade hunting bow?
A straight, 3 foot and 2 inch dead springy oak branch, not grey, cleaned of it’s bark and is a quarter inch thick. The base of the branch I very carefully hot glue dark brown tanned rabbits’ leather and is a quarter and a half inch thick. If you recommend any other kind of leather, my ears are open and I will look for the leather. The ends of the bow are flat and have one hole drilled through each end for the bowstring. I was thinking of using more rabbit leather but I’m not sure. I was also thinking of using nylon string, but if you have any ideas I’m listening. At least something that looks authentic.
Oak is not a bow wood. 3′ 2″ and 1/4″ thick will only make
a midgets bow anyway.
Hide backing has been tried, but by experienced bowyers.
It’s not a good first project idea.
Holes at the ends will cause the limbs to split. You want notches.
