Window Decorations: Getting Into The Christmas Spirit

It is that time of the year again, but you have not decided yet on how to go about decorating your home. You can start with your windows and make them the highlight of you holiday season home improvement. You can decorate windows in an infinite number of ways. Here are just some to get you inspired:

Glass Art:

Using window film is an excellent way to decorate your windows. You can get this film online or you can visit the nearest home improvement store. Green and red shades of the film will make a more traditional Christmas look, while white and peacock blue will create a winter wonderland impression. If you want holiday-specific designs, check out craft stores. Whatever type of decorative window film you choose, you need not worry about the price as these films are sure to suit your budget.

Adorning with frosted window film can be a DIY task to share with your kids. Using stencils or cookie cutters, trace figures such as star or snowflake forms on a cardboard or laminate and cut them out.

Now that you have a guide, repeat the draw-and-cut procedure, but this time on the film substrate. Be careful in using the sharp tools and don’t forget to use a cutting board or mat. This is to make sure not to damage your table or any other surfaces. Or you might choose to cut the window peel into strips and set these on all sides of the pane, or the top and bottom edges.

Another creative option is to do art on the film itself. Make artistic figures with tube paint or rubber stamps. Add photos and other printed images.Besides design flexibility, window peel is generally preferable because it can be installed and removed easily without ruining the surface.

Drape and Dangle:

Windowsills are perfect for hanging decorations. Go traditional with lights and wreaths. Or use ribbons in holiday tones and designs for variety.Wreaths and branches decked with pinecones and red berries can turn heads as well. You can also combine function and beauty. One way is to attach the stockings on the sill instead of by the fireplace mantel. You may even place snow globes if the sill is sufficiently broad.

Box Appeal:

Left bare during the winter season, window boxes can be used for ornamental uses. You can overlay them with fake evergreen garlands or stuff them with pinecones and some toys. Large decorations including miniature Christmas trees can be used as excellent accents. Just see to it that those you put in the box are suited for outside use. Otherwise, they might deteriorate under rough weather condition.

This season, you can make your windows become warm and inviting with uncomplicated treatments. All you need is a bit of originality, artistic vision, and ingenuity to gather the material you need. You can even turn it into an ideal time for bonding with your family, especially if the snow outside is bad. So you will not only get to stand out in your neighborhood but also share precious time with your loved ones.
