How does a Canadian citizen get a green card quickly for a job in the USA?

My cousin was offered a teaching position in Amherst, MA. He is a MA graduate of UMass. He needs proper paperwork to begin teaching on 4 Jan. So this must happen quickly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did the school know that he requires an employment visa to work in the US? They probably think they hired a US citizen – US degree, failure to mention he is not authorized to work in US – and now he is stuck with his own deception!
