Do you think houses will look the same in the future?
I’ve been listening to people talking about how homes are going to be smaller in the future, well I disagree because as you look today construction companies are building more subdivisions and I know they re building eco friendly homes but they still are large beautiful suburban homes and not small modern dull looking homes, and right now im 15 years old but I wish to build a mediterranean style mansion in Houston or Dallas, TX that has textures similar to the Bellagio in Las Vegas, with the huge lake in the front with the dancing fountains, ivory color marble floors, sandy brown granite counter tops, walnut wood cabinets and floors, recessed lighting, chandeliers, double tray ceiling, triple tray ceilings, and dome ceilings, and I want it to have 9 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, and 4 powder rooms, theater room, arcade room designed after dave&busters, basketball gym, inside pool, exercise room, and much more, and I DO NOT think they re gonna build dull looking homes
Jalen, One thing that is nice is that new people are being born all the time. And with fresh young minds come new ideas & new creativity. The architecture we know now had it’s pioneers, sometimes embraced, sometimes ignored, sometimes not appreciated until many years later.
I love your optimism and fresh approach. You notice the beauty of current architecture out there, and dream & envision for yourself what you would love to have. That gives you hope, and something to look forward to.
By the time you are looking into purchasing your first home, you may be 25, 30 or so. You will see things differently than how you do now, and priorities will change, but basically you will have the same dreams. Between now & your future, architecture may change, and you will find something new that will excite you more than what you wrote of above. You may even choose to pursue architecture as a career, and build dreams for others!
Due to the current economic crisis, people are downsizing, so technically it could be said that the home of the “future” will be smaller. Some people are capitalizing on that trend, and homes under 1000 square feet are being seriously looked into by people with all different backgrounds.
Speaking just from the needs that I have, my husband is in a wheelchair, so what we look for are homes that have wider doorways, hallways, square bathrooms, easy in & out of home (no stairs or steps), etc. etc.
Best to you in your dreams! If you can build your career around your dream, you will be happier for it.
