Topping Ideas For A Simple Cheesecake Recipe

Cheesecake is a popular dessert and it is also very versatile. Whether you like no bake or cooked varieties, sweet or savory ones, this dessert is delicious. There are hundreds of types of cheesecake; some of these are rather basic and others are more intricate.

A lot of people enjoy their best successes are with easier recipes. This is because there is less chance of a culinary disaster when following a simple recipe and an easy topping is quicker to put on than a fiddly one.

Fruit is a very popular cheesecake topping and there is plenty of scope. What about a blackberry and apple topped cheesecake or a juicy peach topped one with a sprinkling of cinnamon or nutmeg? Banana is another option and you can combine fruit with other ingredients like ice cream syrup, jello, chocolate, caramel, or marshmallows.

You can either use one or two fruits or several different kinds. Arrange it haphazardly or in concentric rings around the cheesecake. Banana and mango would be nice on a tropical style cheesecake and you can add some toasted desiccated coconut to the cream cheese layer or sprinkle it over the top to add to the exotic effect.

Cheesecake with Jello

You can finish off a simple cheesecake recipe beautifully by adding a layer to jello to it. This ingredient adds color and a fruity flavor, gives the cheesecake a nice texture, and forms a seal on top, to stop the fruit or other toppings from sliding off.

You can either use jello as part of the topping or you can add dry jello powder to the cream cheese layer, to add taste and perhaps a hint of color. Whether you are making a cooked or no bake cheesecake, you will find that jello is a great ingredient to add to your recipe.

The Richest and Most Decadent Toppings

Even though some people claim to prefer plain cheesecakes, which are not that sweet and might not even feature a topping, most of us enjoy rich and indulgent cheesecakes, at least some of the time. Marshmallows, chocolate ganache, walnuts or pecans, hot fudge, rich praline, streusel, caramel and graham cracker crumbs with fruit are just some of your choices.

If you like the concept of a four seasons pizza, where each quarter of the pizza is topped with different ingredients, why not apply the same principle to your next cheesecake recipe? Decorate two diagonally opposite quarters with a rich chocolate praline or sticky fudge topping and the other two with fresh fruit. It is tricky to do this with jello because it is runny so, if you want to use jello, use it to cover the whole of your no bake cheesecake instead.

Cheesecake remains one of the simplest desserts you can make, regardless of your chosen recipe or toppings. You can even use a readymade crust to trim down the preparation time. The cream cheese layer is not difficult and you can choose from hundreds of different toppings and topping combinations to make a unique, creative, and truly mouthwatering cheesecake.
