Need to kills ants w/o hurting my flowers/pets? Is there anything I can mix into the dirt?

I have a small yard with mostly cement but has a small dirt area around it for some flowers etc. There are billions of ants under the cement and in the dirt. Every time I try to mix up the dirt and tend to the garden they are all over the place crawling on me etc. I’m pretty infested. I need something safe for the plants and my 2 small DOGS! Also, I have no clue on how to get to them when they are under the cement. If you have any ideas about that, that would be great.

purchase Tarro and put it out under boxes with holes cut in them for the ants to enter. They will carry the Tarro back to the ant hill and kill all the workers and the queen in the ant hill.

By placing it under boxes with a rock or weight on top, the cats and dogs can’t get to it.
