Flower Cut

How long does stock last as a cut flower?
I bought a bunch of stock on Sat and now Wed. they are beginning to smell bad rather than good, and the little petals are falling off. Any suggestions how to extend the “life” of this type of cut flowers?t
Stock doesn’t last very long as a cut flower. You should be getting at least 5 days out of it. Make sure to cut the stems every two days and refill the water. When the water starts to get “skunky” replace it completely. Keep the flowers away from heat sources (heaters, televisions, stoves, a sunny window) and also out of the cold (air conditioning, ceiling fans, drafts, etc.) Also, make sure to use the packets of flower food that came with your cut flower purchase. If you didn’t receive flower food packets place a small drop of bleach (to kill the bacteria) and a teaspoon of sugar (food) to the water. The flower food packets are better because they are formulated to make your cut flowers last longer. The listed techniques will keep any cut flower fresher, and alive, longer.
