The Presto 05464 is a dual basket electric deep fryer that features an attractive matte aluminum housing and black accenting. The neutral look will fit in nicely with virtually any kitchen decor, and the compact size will fit on most counters.

The generously sized oil pot is removable and enameled. The pot can be filled with up to 12 cups of oil or 6 pounds of shortening, large enough to fry up a family sized meal. An easily controlled thermostat knob controls the temperature, which heats up to the optimum temp of 375 degrees Fahrenheit. An immersion heating element ensures quick oil temperature recovery in between batches of food.

Clean up is a snap with the Presto 05464 Dual Basket ProFry Immersion Element Deep Fryer. The oil pot, baskets and base are all dishwasher safe, or simply wash with warm soapy water. The filter can be cleaned as well, and doesn’t need to be replaced.

I’ve read many reviews about this fryer, mainly at Amazon, and the reviews for the Presto 05464 are mainly positive, with about 75% of reviewers rating the deep fat fryer 4 stars or better, on a scale of 5.0 stars. The overall rating for this fryer is 3.8/5.0 stars.

Pros:

• Food doesn’t soak up oil – comes out crispy and not greasy
• Easy to clean
• User friendly
• Large size will fry up family sized portions

Cons:

• Filter doesn’t eliminate cooking odors
• Takes a little longer to heat up than other fryers
• Short cord, which is a safety feature, limits where you can plug it in

The majority of reviewers were pleased with the fryer’s overall performance. Food made in the fryer comes out crispy and not greasy, as it should. It’s big enough to fry up food for an entire family, yet easy enough to use that even small batches are a snap to make. The Presto fryer is also easy to clean up as most of the parts are dishwasher safe.

One of the few drawbacks with the Presto 05464 Dual Basket ProFry is that the cord is very short. Several reviews pointed to the fact that the fryer has to be very close to an outlet in order to use. The cord is a magnetic breakaway, however, so this appears to be a part of the design that is intended to promote safety while being used.

Overall, I would highly recommend this fryer. Comparing prices of fryers online, the Presto ProFry is reasonably priced and would make a nice addition to any kitchen.
