What does a Disney girl have to do to become a “Disney Princess”?

So why isn’t Meg from Hercules a disney princess? or Esmerelda? Do you have to marry a prince to fall in the Disney Princess Catagory?

They weren’t of royal heritage and they didn’t marry into so yeah. If you don’t have royal blood in your veins you have to marry royality to be a princess. Meg married a hero/ demigod and she had no royal lineage so she can’t be a princess. Esmerelda same deal only she married a captain of the guards.
