Dee Rings

I dont know what bit to use?! ?

I have a 3 year old OTTB that is going into basic hunter/jumper training. What kind of snaffle bit should i get? Whats the difference between the Dee ring , the loose ring, and the eggbutt besides shape of the rings? Which would be better? Any specific brand like Kimberwick or Myler? Should it be just plain, twisted, rubber, or copper? Im so lost, i have a trainer, but i wanted to buy everything ahead of time. Thanks for your help!

A loose ring bit prevents the horse from grabbing the bit and taking control. I personally ride in a loose ring snaffle. A kimberwicke bit is harsher than a regular snaffle. It is not a brand of bit. I love JP Korsteel bits. Great price and very good quality. I do not recommend any form of a twisted bit. Copper is good because it promotes salivation and encourages the horse to accept the bit. Rubber is good for a horse with a sensitive mouth. A good bit to start out with is any type of plain snaffle (loose ring, D ring, eggbutt) as they are all mild. I would start with one of those and go from there. Good luck!
