Do you feel thrift shops overcharge on items that are donated to them for free?
thought I was getting a good price on some chair cushions-2.99 each,..then of course a local ad paper came the next day…their advertised price was dollar lower, no, the product was not exactly the same, but was pretty identical.
I also used to volunteer in a thrift store, plus do quite a bit of shopping at thrifts as well 
The people who price things in thrift stores don’t often realize the value of what they are pricing. I’ve seen antique pottery go for 50¢ and cheap, Kmart platters priced for $10 which is ridiculous.
Also, thrift stores have to pay rent, utilities, maintenance, employee salaries, insurance, liability, plus take a huge hit in disposal fees with all the non-salable crap they have to dispose of (like tires, TV, computer monitors, etc.)
Most thrifts have a certain amount of merchandise they give away to the homeless and the poor. They partner with food banks to give away things like clothes, cookware, and basic furniture items.
They have to earn a certain amount to cover all these costs, and try to set their prices as what they think the market will bear. Yes, sometimes it may be higher than what you may see advertised at Walmart, but of course, thrifts have no way of knowing that a certain item they carry will be marked down elsewhere.
