Craft Hot

Can I use regular hot glue to bunch hair extensions together?
I want to use the micro link aka clamp method to do hair extensions, but the beauty supply store closest to me only sells human hair on a weft, so i would have to cut it off, and then but this special hair extension glue for about $70, but i want to know if it will be okay if I use regular hot glue from a craft store…
Thank You!
