How to attach velcro onto a cotton fabric?

I need to attach a small piece of velcro onto a piece of cotton fabric, the velcro doesn’t stay on if I just use the sticky side, so i tried to sow it once it was on their, but the needle caught some glue, and wouldn’t go through the other side of the cotton.

Velcro for sewing doesn’t have a sticky side–it is smooth. What you have is velcro for attaching to plastic, wood or metal and the goo that got on the needle is the glue. I don’t think Super glue would work either because you would be gluing the goo to the fabric not the velcro. Save yourself a headache and go to a fabric store and buy a small piece of velcro and sew it to the fabric. The clerks should be able to steer you to the right stuff.
